Twitter Feed

Twitter is a great tool to stay up-to-date with everything that is happening: news, hobbies and interests, celebrities and influencers. However, some users prefer to consume and monitor this information via RSS feeds using RSS readers or custom integrations within their own apps.

A long time ago Twitter used to have RSS feed for any user. However, this feature was closed in June 2013. You can still read any twitter updates in your favorite RSS reader. Just enter someone's twitter URL into a field above and you'll get your RSS URL. We are fetching only user's timeline for now. The tweets would appear in my custom “Lists”, but not in my main feed. Something had to have changed or wasn’t working properly. It turns out, there was a setting enabled on my account that “personalizes” the experience on Twitter. Typically, in Twitter terminology, your Twitter feed is your Twitter timeline. I n case, you are not sure what the benefits are of doing this are, lets review them here: Benefits of Twitter Feed You can let your readers know what you are up to by tweeting about it. How to Refresh a Twitter Feed Automatically. By Patrick Nelson Nov 14, 2013 5:00 AM PT. One of the great things about Twitter is the ability to keep abreast of what's happening. Whether it's local. RSS.app allows users to create RSS feeds from any public Twitter user feed, hashtag, at mention or search keyword, as well as feeds of their own Twitter timelines without writing a single line of code.

Here are three options on how to create these feeds:

Option 1: RSS feed from any public Twitter URL

This option generates a RSS feed of all the tweets that a user liked. One benefit of using this type of feed is to monitor user engagement and curate trusted sources of tweets.

Simply, type in the @username (e.g. @elonmusk) you would like to follow and click on generate to get the feed.

Option 3: RSS feed from your own Twitter timeline

With this option, users are able to get a feed of their own Twitter timeline, which includes their followers tweets, retweets and replies.

One of the great things about Twitter is the ability to keep abreast of what's happening. Whether it's local news, influential tweeters or buddies, you can quickly get a snapshot of what's going on that matters to you.

I've written before about how to get breaking news on Twitter, but the approach I discussed there requires the user's intervention. Many Twitter clients, in fact, force you to interact with the on-screen client in order to get the tweets you want delivered. Even when the tweets are pushed to your client by Twitter, they often require a touch or mouse click to become visible.

Twitter does include APIs, though, that developers can use to push messages and create a real-time, live stream of auto-refreshed tweets. The streaming APIs, for example, use a persistent HTTP connection and parse, filter and aggregate before storing the results to a data store.

Developers can then get their apps to auto-refresh or just notify the user that tweet events have occurred, as is the case with many Android apps.

Auto-refresh can be used to leave Twitter running on a PC-connected TV, for example, without involvement from you. You can then just glance at the screen.

Here's how to stream and auto-refresh your Twitter feed using the Chrome or Firefox desktop browsers, or stream a keyword feed using social network management tool HootSuite's live Twitter feed tool.

Note: Falcon Pro is an Android app that allows auto-refresh streaming. It's currently unavailable to new users because it has reached Twitter's 100,000-user-token limit. However, existing token owners can still download and auto-refresh feeds on Android devices with it.

He tasted down and dirty technology, and never looked back.
